Claudio Zunino was born on March 16, 1974. He obtained his Master degree in Computer Engineering at Politecnico di Torino in July 2000. In the same University, in 2005, he received the Ph.D Degree in Information and System Engineering discussing the thesis: "Analysis, specification and development of systems and architectures for distributed computing".

From January 1st, 2005 until December 31th, 2005 he had a research grant at the Dipartimento di Automatica e Informatica of the Politecnico di Torino. During this period and in the years before, his research activities were focused on distributed and parallel computing, scientific visualization, computer graphics and virtual reality.

Since 2006 he has been researcher at the Istituto di Elettronica e Ingegneria dell'Informazione e delle Telecomunicazioni (IEIIT) of the CNR. His scientific activity has been focused mainly on Industrial Ethernet networks and wireless networks in industrial environments. In particular, he carried out evaluations of the performances on the EtherCAT protocol and his synchronization capabilities.
In these fields he has co-authored several scientific and technical papers.

In 2006 he was in the team responsible for information technology management of the 6th IEEE International Workshop on Factory Communication Systems. Claudio Zunino has carried out several teaching activities with the Faculty of Computer Engineering of Politecnico di Torino, in more than 40 courses so far concerning computer fundamentals, databases, distributed architectures and computer graphics.
